Bugged Maxis Online Account System Shows Other's Personal Info

Uh oh, it looks like Maxis have made a boo boo with their users online accounts. According to local blogger and founder of the Malaysian social media site Kawanster, Arsyan Ismail, a huge breach in privacy was uncovered on Monday whereby if you log into your Maxis online account, you may be randomly logged onto someone else's account instead. Once in, you can view a goldmine of personal information like phone numbers, personal emails as well as their phonebook if they backed it up with Maxis previously. Access to such information opens Pandora's box to potential hackers, stalkers and Nigerian princes to get up to all sorts of tomfoolery. What's worse than this bug of epic proportions? The response via Twitter to Arsyan. “MaxisListens: @arsyan @demonick As a result, customers who logged in to the portal were able to see a TEST A/C which was not a valid Maxis cust’s profile.” Which of course is a crock of bull. And after being called out, another equally mind boggling reply. "@arsyan The number may be real. However, there is no real association between the profile & user. @demonick" There's even a screenshot of an SMS exchange between Arsyan and one of the compromised accounts! Come on Maxis, stop with the lame excuses and just man up and fix the problem already. No official word from Maxis about this yet, and as far as we know, the problem is widespread and not isolated. Let's hope that Maxis have a team of people working on this around the clock as this is no small matter. Ahmadinejad tells UN most blame US government for 9/11

UNITED NATIONS, Sept 24 — Iranian President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad told the United Nations yesterday most people believe the US government was behind the attacks of Sept. 11, 2001, prompting the US and European delegations to leave the hall in protest. Addressing the General Assembly, he said it was mostly US government officials and statesmen who believed al Qaeda Islamist militants carried out the suicide hijacking attacks that brought down New York’s World Trade Center — less than 6km from where the Iranian president was speaking.
Another theory, he said, was “that some segments within the US government orchestrated the attack to reverse the declining American economy, and its grips on the Middle East, in order to save the Zionist regime.” Ahmadinejad usually refers to Israel as the “Zionist regime.”
“The majority of the American people as well as most nations and politicians around the world agree with this view,” Ahmadinejad told the 192-nation assembly, calling on the United Nations to establish “an independent fact-finding group” to look into the events of Sept. 11.
As in past years, the US delegation walked out during Ahmadinejad’s speech. It was joined by all 27 European Union delegations and several other countries.
Mark Kornblau, spokesman for the US mission to the United Nations, said Ahmadinejad chose “to spout vile conspiracy theories and anti-Semitic slurs that are as abhorrent and delusional as they are predictable.”
White House spokesman Bill Burton said President Barack Obama thought the comments “utterly outrageous and offensive — especially in the city where the 9/11 attacks occurred.”
EU foreign policy chief Catherine Ashton said the remarks were “outrageous and unacceptable.”
‘COVERED UP’
Ahmadinejad said some evidence that could support alternative theories had been “covered up” — passports located in the rubble and a video of an unknown individual who had been “involved in oil deals with some American officials.”
As he had in past years, the Iranian president used the General Assembly podium to attack Iran’s other archfoe, Israel, and to defend the right of his country to a nuclear program that Western powers fear is aimed at developing arms.
“This regime (Israel), which enjoys the absolute support of some Western countries, regularly threatens the countries in the region and continues publicly announced assassination of Palestinian figures and others, while Palestinian defenders ... are labelled as terrorists and anti-Semites,” he said.
“All values, even the freedom of expression, in Europe and the United States are being sacrificed at the altar of Zionism,” Ahmadinejad said.
The Iranian president previously raised doubts about the Holocaust of the Jews in World War Two and said Israel had no right to exist.
Tehran has been hit with four rounds of UN sanctions for refusing to halt its nuclear enrichment program. Obama earlier told the assembly the door to diplomacy was still open for Iran, but it needed to prove its atomic program is peaceful, as it says it is.
Two days ago, foreign ministers from the five permanent UN Security Council members and Germany said they hoped for a negotiated solution to the standoff with Tehran.
Ahmadinejad criticised the Security Council for imposing sanctions on his country, saying the penalties were “destroying the remaining credibility” of the 15-nation body. — Reuters

Nuklear: Pandangan rakyat diabaikan lagi?

Persatuan Pengguna Pulau Pinang (CAP) dan Sahabat Alam Malaysia (SAM) melahirkan rasa terkejut kerana mendapati kerajaan sudah pun memutuskan cadangan program tenaga nuklear sepertimana yang dimasukkan ke dalam salah satu 131 projek Program Transformasi Ekonomi (ETP).

Rancangan itu didedahkan kepada orang ramai pada 21 September lalu.

“Kami ingin mengingatkan kembali bahawa Perdana Menteri Datuk Seri Najib Razak telah menyatakan dalam blog 1Malaysia berikutan bantahan orang ramai terhadap pembinaan loji tenaga nuklear bahawa beliau akan mendapatkan pandangan orang ramai berhubung perkara itu.

“Sehingga ke hari ini, kami masih belum melihat sebarang perbahasan yang bermakna dan proses rundingan awam sebenar oleh kerajaan,” kata presiden CAP dan SAM, SM Mohamed Idris dalam satu kenyataan.

Menurut Mohamed, apa yang dipanggil forum dan perbahasan awam yang sebahagian besarnya dianjurkan oleh Agensi Nuklear Malaysia bukan platform neutral untuk mendapatkan pandangan awam.

“Perlu diingatkan bahawa mereka yang menghadiri forum itu adalah terdiri daripada kakitangan agensi dan pegawai kerajaan daripada jabatan yang berkaitan dan panel perbincangan datangnya daripada agensi ini.

“Agensi Nuklear Malaysia, Tenaga Nasional Berhad (TNB) dan Kementerian Tenaga, Teknologi Hijau dan Air (Kttha) merupakan pihak yang mempunyai kepentingan dan agenda terbuka dalam menyokong loji tenaga nuklear sepertimana yang ditunjukkan melalui kenyataan umum mereka setakat ini,” katanya.

Pada Julai lalu, Menteri Kttha, Datuk Peter Chin dilaporkan berkata kerajaan akan hanya membuat keputusan akhir berhubung tenaga nuklear selepas mengkaji hasil penemuan Rancangan Pembangunan Infrastruktur Tenaga Nuklear yang dijadualkan siap pada 2013.

“CAP dan SAM ingin mengetahui jika keputusan kerajaan dimaklumkan oleh penemuan ini jika ia telah pun diperolehi. Jika demikian masyarakat awam Malaysia dan orang ramai perlu dimaklumkan. Jika tidak, kenapa tergesa-gesa untuk meneruskan dengan rancangan pembinaan loji tenaga nuklear, “ soalnya.

Muktamad: Felda diarah bayar peneroka RM11 juta

Selepas lebih sepuluh tahun, akhirnya 354 peneroka Felda Kemahang Tiga dari Kelantan mendapat khabar gembira apabila Mahkamah Persekutuan hari ini mengarahkan Felda membayar mereka RM11 juta kerana menipu peneroka berkenaan berhubung gred buah kelapa sawit.
Mahkamah Persekutuan Putrajaya menolak permohonan Felda yang mencabar keputusan yang dibuat oleh panel lain, mahkamah itu yang sebelum ini mengketepikan rayuan berkenaan.

Lebih 150 peneroka hadir pada perbicaraan yang penuh sesak ini manakala ratusan lagi berhimpun di luar menantikan penghakiman. Kebanyakan mereka mengagahi perjalanan lebih sembilan jam dari Kelantan untuk mencari keadilan.

Dengan penghakiman hari ini, setiap peneroka itu dijangka menerima RM25,000 hingga RM30,000 setiap seorang.

Keputusan hari ini mempunyai implikasi besar ke atas Felda dan kerajaan kerana ia akan menyaksikan lebih banyak saman difailkan dan mengugat kepercayaan sebelum ini bahawa penubuhan agensi kerajaan itu oleh perdana menteri kedua, Tun abdul Razak Hussein bagi meningkatkan kebajikan masyarakat bumiputera dengan menaikkan taraf hidup mereka sebenarnya mempunyai kepincangan.

Keputusan sebulat suara

Presiden Mahkamah Rayuan Tan Sri Alauddin Mohd Sherif, yang mengetuai panel tiga hakim, menolak permohonan Felda berhubung keputusan Mahkamah Persekutuan sebelum ini yang mengetepikan permohonan Felda membuat rayuan terhadap perintah Mahkamah Tinggi Kota Baharu supaya agensi itu membayar RM7.8 juta ganti rugi dan faedah kepada peneroka-peneroka itu.

Panel hakim, yang turut terdiri Hakim Mahkamah Persekutuan Datuk Hashim Yusoff dan Datuk Seri Md Raus Sharif, mendapati mahkamah itu tidak dapat membenarkan permohonan itu kerana ia tidak mempunyai bidang kuasa menyemak semula keputusan awalnya.

Menurut Alauddin, keputusan sebulat suara itu dibuat kerana mahkamah hari ini tidak mempunyai jurisdiksi untuk mengkaji keputusan yang dibuat oleh Mahkamah Persekutuan sebelum ini.

"Justeru, rayuan itu ditolak."

Mahkamah juga memerintahkan Felda membayar kos perundangan sebanyak RM20,000.

Mahkamah Tinggi Kota Baharu memerintahkan Felda membayar RM7.8 juta bersama faedah kepada peneroka-peneroka itu setelah peguam agensi itu gagal hadir di mahkamah semasa saman itu didengar, dan mahkamah membuat keputusan memihak kepada peneroka selepas mendengar keterangan saksi-saksi mereka.

Jumlah meningkat

Jumlah itu kemudiannya meningkat kepada RM11 juta bersama faedah terkumpul.

Pada 19 Januari lalu, Mahkamah Persekutuan enggan membenarkan Felda untuk merayu dan mengarahkannya supaya membayar pampasan kerana menipu 354 peneroka sejak 1995.

Panel tiga orang hakim ketika itu diketuai oleh Tun Zaki Azmi yang sebulat suara enggan membenarkan Felda membuat rayuan.


"Mahkamah puas hati bahawa tiada mana-mana bahagian dalam undang-undang bagi perkara ini disemak semula oleh mahkamah ini. Kami mengekalkan keputusan Mahkamah Tinggi dan Mahkamah Rayuan," kata Zaki dalam penghakiman lisannya.

Dua lagi panel hakim tersebut ialah Datuk Gopal Ram dan Datuk Zulkefli Ahmad Makinuddin.
Peneroka menamakan Felda, pengurus tanah rancangan tersebut, Ibrahim Ismail (telah meninggal dunia) dan Felda Palm Industries Sdn Bhd sebagai defenden.

Mereka diwakili oleh peguam Wan Rohimi Wan Daud dan Yusfarizal Yusoff.
